TBR

So, one of the many downfalls of exam/essay time was the inability to read anything other than critic’s opinions of Virginia Woolf, essays on marriage in The Merchant of Venice, and notes on Philosophy of Mind. If you’re me, that is. Funnily I found a lot of time to read Twitter as well, but that is besides the point. I enjoy other blogger’s TBR (To Be Read) piles of books so I dug out some books I have been trying to read for the last few months but not getting the chance to. Strangely, I have read at least a few pages of ‘Her Fearful Symmetry’, ‘Oranges are Not the Only Fruit’, and ‘The News Where You Are’ but couldn’t commit myself. ‘Private Life’ – Jane Smiley is the book I’m currently reading, I’m on page 87 but it hasn’t drawn me in yet. Has anyone read it? I want to do more book reviews. I really enjoy reading them, and they usually inspire me to buy the book if I’m impressed.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I have read with gusto before, but want to re-read in time for the last film installment in July. End of an era, eh?

Here’s another few I acquired in the last two days which I’m a bit more excited about:

Jewell and July. Aw how lovely. Sounds like a book in itself. I will try to let you know how many of these I get through and some thoughts. So what are you reading at the moment?

Have you read any of these books?

Got any recommendations?

  1. Well I’ve read the Harry Potter book! But not recently. And I’ve read Oranges are Not the Only Fruit. What I remember most about it is that it’s a little strange. But from there I did go on to read other books by Jeanette Winterson, so I must have liked it well enough! I too have a copy of Her Fearful Symmetry waiting on my TBR shelves. Except mine is a hardback and I bought it new when it first came out 🙂 It’s been waiting patiently for me to get to it for ages!!

I’m reading a book called David by Mary Hoffman at the moment. I’ve just started it, but it’s a YA book that tells the ficitonal account of the model for Michaelangelo’s David. I think it’ll be really good.

What do you think?
