Wedding Songs (Love Month!)

This post was inspired by Clover at Fluttering Butterflies who is celebrating LOVE MONTH for February. I think its a fab idea!

The song that we have always talked about being our ‘first dance’ song if are ever lucky enough to walk down the aisle is a little hidden track on Coldplay’s ‘X and Y’ album called ‘Til Kingdom Come.’

We aren’t especially big Coldplay fans but it’s just one of those songs that really means something to us. I remember Mickey playing and singing it on a guitar in our friend’s house, at least a year before we got together and having to stop, embarrassed because he was playing it for me and I was completley oblivious. Ah my silly 16 year old self! It almost makes me cry listening to it, it’s so beautiful. Would it be too fast to dance to as a ‘first dance’ song?

Also, I am so interested to hear what songs people have played/want to play at their weddings. What about you?

  1. Well Done Fiona- loving the blog! This is fantastic, and will be the making of you I’m sure.

Best wedding song ever is Fleetwood Mac ‘Need your love so bad’. It was going to be mine, but my brother stole it. However, I stole it from an ex girlfriend, so its ok!

Going to bookmark you now! Good luck! x

  2. I’m not the biggest Coldplay fan (every time N plays one of their songs on the piano I groan) (and complain loudly!) but I’m listening to this song now, and aww. I just feel for poor Mickey singing his heart out to you and you just being completely unaware. POOR GUY.

    Lovely choice.

  3. Hey Fiona πŸ™‚

I seen the link on facebook and couldn’t resist!
    It’s a lovely blog πŸ™‚

I know EXACTLY what my wedding song is gonna be, Bob Marley, Is this Love.
Amazing…although it does look as though I’ll be having a slightly alternative wedding!!
    xx

    1. Hey Abbye,

      Thank you so much πŸ™‚
Aw, I don’t know that .. I must check it out.one. I do know it! I just didn’t know that’s what it was called πŸ™‚ I’m a little threatened by everyone’s amazing choices haha.
Ooh do we have solid wedding plans Abbye?? I don’t really want a traditional wedding either… especially don’t want to dance to ‘granny’ songs haha xxx

  4. Feef! I never seen this one before! Great topic, something I often think about, if I find a silly woman mad enough to marry me lol.

It’s changed so many times and sometimes I think that it’ll be up to the wife to decide, but I would love it to be an unreleased U2 (obv) song that is probably my fav ever. It’s called ‘Mercy’ and I think its really good. Makes me angry that they dropped it from the album and people never heard it.

You can have a wee listen if you like:

Keep up the good work πŸ™‚

    1. Aw did ye not Dermott?
Awww! You aren’t allowed to call your future bride silly!! What if she is reading this?? πŸ˜€
Yeah, when I was doing this and getting responses from girls and fellas I was thinking, they MUST clash all the time when it comes to the decision. But sometimes you have to find a song (or you just get one) for you as a couple and it might not be anyone’s fave band or anything.

Had a wee listen, some lovely lyrics in there.
      Thanks for lovely comment.
